Social Action Projects Guide
In the Big Picture Learning Design, there is a strong commitment to making a difference in young people’s lives and harnessing the talents and resources of the community to help students to become the best that they can be.
The Social Action Project, a key aspect of the design, asks students to ‘pay it forward’, and in turn to develop an awareness of their communities; to notice the needs of the people and environments within it, and to use their talents and energies to bring about positive change.
The goal is to develop an understanding of social justice and inequity, to build a culture of problem solving and taking ethical action, and to nurture responsible local and global citizens.
This guide helps students to develop effective Socail Action projects with examples and experiences from Big Picture Learning schools in Australia.
