Inclusive Learning Systems for all Young Australians
Today the Duseldorp Forum released their report The Case for Inclusive Learning Systems with the aim of moving the national conversation from what isn’t working in education to what is.
The Case provides a framework and design principles that can be used to build flexible and inclusive learning systems that will increase engagement and outcomes for all young Australians.

- 20% of Australian high-school-aged individuals are not attending school and a further 20% of young people feel they do not belong in their school.
- Engaging more young people in learning and designing systems that work for them is a priority.
- There are over 900 flexible learning programs in Australia educating over 70,000 students each year.
- We know what works and there is evidence of effective practice all over the country.
- The ability to move between different types of learning better reflects the realities of young people’s lives than the more traditional structural requirements that all will move at the same pace, through the same system to the same ends in similar communities.
- Now is the time to build Inclusive Learning Systems for all young Australians.
