Brewarrina boys farewell Governor General
As part of the farewell to outgoing Governor General Quentin Bryce, Nathan and Tai from Brewarrina Central School presented her with an award of appreciation from the Clontarf Foundation. This was done in front of the Prime Minister Tony Abbott, the Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten, and one thousand guests on national televison - ABC 24.
Nathan and Tai were chosen from all the Clontarf Academies across Australia to present the Governor General with a Certificate of Appreciation for her gift to the Foundation.
This honour reflects the qualities of the Brewarrina boys and the exceptional work done by the Clontarf Foundation in schools. The boys were accompanied by Uncle Charley McHughes who mentors the boys within the Brewarrina Academy.
Through football, the Clontarf program reconnects boys to learning and offers pathways to the workforce. The program works with teachers in schools to give meaning and purpose to learning and to help boys become better men.
