New app for use in classrooms
We are excited to announce the launch of a new app developed by Redgum Consulting Pty Ltd in partnership with Big Picture Education Australia. Available on iPad and iPhone, the app is specifically designed for teachers - both primary and secondary - as well as for parents, grandparents, youth workers, and anyone working or living with young people.
The app consists of a series of short activities divided into three categories – head (for thinking and talking), heart (for emotions and relationships) and hand (for making and creating). The app is ideal for:
- changing the energy in a classroom
- refocusing students
- transitioning students from activity to thoughtful reflection
- moving from reading to talking
- moving from thinking to action
- engaging students for deeper inquiry
- intellectual and creative stimulation
- long car trips
- rainy days
A website (www.headhearthand.net) with more connected and extended activities is currently in development and will be live soon.
If you like the idea of the app, please let your colleagues, friends and networks know about it.
I love it! I've downloaded it and have already used it in a staff meeting and at the dinner table. I can see using it in a variety of circumstances (e.g. I could have used it on a long drive with a van full of teenagers...) Educator, U.S.A.
Big Picture Education Australia is now utilising social media as a way of communicating with the network and members.
We invite you to ‘like' our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with Big Picture news, events and ideas, and to connect with Big Picture advisors and students across Australia and around the world.
We hope to see you online!
