Charles Leadbeater is a UK-based social innovator and new media analyst. He's given advice to many governments and businesses around the world.
In the second half of this podcast, Charles seeks better educational models and more supportive community programs - with relationships as a key theme.
“I think most of what we most value comes from relationships... good relationships are the key to making people happy. You learn through relationships, you get often work through relationships, and often it's relationships that go wrong, that go sour -- dysfunctional families, things that break up, work relationships that break up -- that are the key to things going bad. So in a way if you were to focus on relationships, it would get you to a lot of what's important.”
Charles points out the big problems in education such as inequalities and says that doing the same as we have even with more will not address the problems.
He advocates finding ways of education which are motivational and bringing family, school and community together.
It sounds a lot like Big Picture... so have a listen.
